Baitstream® Bait Preparation Guide

If you are going to use some of the best carp baits in the industry, you'll want to mix them to get maximum effect in the conditions you are fishing in. This is a starters guide to how you can get best results to your Baitstream baits and flavours. Over time you may experiment and find better mixes.

Group A and B Flavours
These custom flavours can be used with any bait, but we recommend one of our high quality base mixes. We can advise you on the best base mix, and even provide it ready-flavoured if you don't fancy mixing it yourself.
We suggest you use most of these flavours with a starting dosage of about 5ml per pound of base mix, but of course ethere is scope for experiment and the optimum level will vary from water to water and with the time of year. As a rough guide, the higher the water temperature, the lower the dosage you should use.
Some of the stronger flavours should be used in lower dosage due to their high flavour concentration. These are:
Tutti Frutti (Group A) - Between 2 and 3ml per pound of bait.
Cheese - About 3ml per pound of bait

Some flavours are best when mixed with others. Have a browse through our Group A and B catalogues. They will give you the mixing information you need.

Bait Additives
Our additives come in the form of liquids and powders. Each additive is unique, and our catalogue will tell you the quantities to use per pound of bait. You can contact us anytime to find out if the combinations you would like to order mix well. For some tried and tested combinations, take a look at our bait recipes page

Essential Oils
Our essential oils are most effective when used to enhance our regular flavours. They are very strong, and should only be used at 0.25-0.5ml per pound of bait. For good combination advice, have a look at the flavour catalogue or the bait recipes page

Dip 'n' Drys
If you break your bait into small balls, you can dip them in our Dip and Drys before throwing them in to give an immediate flavour release into the area you are fishing. If you prepare before you leave, you can leave them to dry which will allow them to dissolve in the water and give a longer period of attraction. You can extend this to dipping and drying as many times as you like, adding more and more layers to make the flavour release last hours.

Bait Sprays
If you need quick, convenient bait flavouring, these copuld be for you. You simply use your standard bait, and just before you throw it in you can spray it with one of our bait sprays. They are available in all our standard flavours and will allow you to make last minute changes to the flavours you are using.

Ready Made Boilies and Base Mixes
Use them. That's it! No preparation, no mixing, no dosing, no dipping, no drying. Just ready to use bait which you know will be mixed at optimum levels straight from the source.
